Our Way or Yah's Way

Moses’s the Murderer - Exodus 2:11-25

When we face trials in life there are two ways we can respond. From our text in Exodus, we know that YHWH had a plan for Moses, but in this event Moses decided to take matters into His own hands. Yah’s call on Moses’s life was to be the deliver and lead the Israelites out of bondage.

On this day when Moses witnessed the Egyptian striking one of his Hebrew brothers, Moses operating in the flesh got ahead of the Father’s plan and killed the Egyptian and hid the body in the sand. Thinking no one noticed the crime committed Moses went away as normal, but on the second day Moses in an effort to calm the quarrels of his brothers hears the words “Do you intend to kill me as you killed the Egyptian? Moses then realized his sin was known among the people.

In the heat of the moment Moses’s anger and frustration got the best of him. How many times has this happened to all of us? The circumstances, challenges, criticisms, etc. often distract us from who is really in control. Just like Moses we have a desire to see things come to pass in our lives, but if we’re not careful we have a tendency to take matters into our own hands. While being proactive is a great quality, we must be vigilant to not get ahead of Yah’s plans and timing. For Moses it took 40 years for Yah’s timing to come to pass.

Yah’s Plan

Yah’s plans always work out better than we can imagine. While we might choose a certain route—or even a bypass—to reach our goals in life, He often guides us through the wilderness, over rugged roads, and through low valleys. Why does He do this? Just like Moses’ during his 40 years of self-renovation, Yah reveals things in our hearts that need to be addressed before He can use us effectively. He has already promised good things to His children if we will Shema—listen and obey.

For I know the plans I am planning for you,’ declares YHWH, ‘plans of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and an expectancy. Then you shall call on Me, and shall come and pray to Me, and I shall listen to you. And you shall seek Me, and shall find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart

Much like Moses, you may find yourself feeling discouraged, confused, and questioning where Yah is in your life. We all experience these moments, and often, the most heartfelt prayers come when we feel completely empty and simply ask for help. It’s in these times of humility, when we realize that there is nothing we can do on our own, that we must fully depend on and trust Him.

It’s in these times we need to realign ourselves with who we serve and as David prayed:

Create in me a clean heart, O Elohim, And renew a steadfast spirit within me.

When you realize only He can make a way when there seems to be no way, that’s when you need to pick your-self up out of the dust and come to Him in your brokenness knowing that He will welcome you back with loving arms ready to receive your willingness to listen and obey.

If you have discovered your way continues to be a struggle or results in failure. Try Yah’s way and watch in see what He will do in your life. Be patience, but expectant knowing that He has good plans instore for you. Just like Moses He will use you in ways far greater then you could ever ask or think.

The Didache – The Early Church’s Ancient Teaching

The Didache, also known as “The Teaching of the Twelve Apostles,” stands as one of the earliest and most mysterious documents in the history of the early church. Its text, shorter in length yet far reaching in impact, offers a window into the beliefs, observances, and community halakha of the earliest followers of Yahshua.

The Great Battle

The goal of this fallen world is the same as that faithful day in the garden. The alure and attraction of this world pulls believers and unbelievers alike into its grips through wealth, status, friends, religion, ETC. The enemy’s plan has not changed since the garden; he’s only become stealthier and more deceitful. The battle that started has only become more intense and with an enemy harder to target. The Word warns us not to become like the world, but to imitate our Messiah and to walk in the spirit which is full of life and peace.

Giving way to Weakness

Giving Way to Weakness

We as believers are expected to adhere to a high moral standard. Why? Because just like Samson YHWH expects us to be salt & light. To be the light in the darkness and that light only dwells in YHWH our Elohim. He is the source of our light. What seems popular to contrary belief is we must live, look, act, and be set-apart from this world.
